When selecting an LCD display for a new project, most buyers start with specifications: resolution, size, interface. While these are important, they are rarely the reason projects succeed—or fail.

Many teams focus on whether the interface is MIPI, RGB, or SPI. But in practice, timing, driver IC compatibility, and system resources can create unexpected integration issues. A display that "fits on paper" may still require weeks of debugging.
2. Brightness Should Match Reality, Not Assumptions
It's common to select brightness based on typical values. However, actual usage environments vary widely. A device used near windows, outdoors, or under strong lighting can quickly expose insufficient brightness.
Over-specifying brightness, on the other hand, increases power consumption and heat. The balance is more subtle than it seems.

Dimensions are not just about length and width. Bezel design, FPC position, and thickness all affect how the display fits into the final product. Small mismatches here often lead to redesigns late in development.
4. Touch Performance Depends on Structure, Not Just "With or Without"
Choosing a touch panel is not simply a yes/no decision. The structure (such as G+G or optical bonding) directly affects sensitivity, durability, and optical clarity. This becomes especially important in industrial or high-end applications.
5. Supply Stability Matters More Than Initial Cost
A low-cost display can become expensive if it leads to supply inconsistency or redesigns later. Stable production and long-term availability are often undervalued during early selection.
A More Practical Approach
Instead of selecting a display purely based on specifications, it's more effective to evaluate it within the context of your actual product: environment, lifecycle, and user interaction.
